The hoops, can be metal or wood. The first ones, they are massive built in steel they are of vintage design (without ears), being held to the body by means of tiny clamps, highly resistant. Its inflexible structure exerts a much more uniform pressure on the patch, granting us precise control over tuning, acoustic and harmonic frequencies.
The wooden hoops have a metallic bushing in each tuning hole, offering greater internal protection, and avoiding deformations in its surface.
The difference between the metal hoops and wood, lies mainly in the natural tone of these. Metal rings will project sharp harmonics, while wooden ones will enhance low frequencies. Whatever the choice, the drum will retain its explosive and ultra-sensitive sound at the same time.
